Carole Sue Young

Anderson - Carole Sue Presser Young, 71, Anderson, died August 6, 2011 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born April 19, 1940 in Sidney, Ohio, to Howard Thomas Presser and Ruth "Marjorie" Troester Presser. Carole was raised in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School in 1958. She attended Wittenberg University for two years and graduated from Purdue University, Indianapolis campus in 1970. She began her career in hospitals working at Community Hospital starting in 1963 and working in various capacities until her nursing career began in 1970. She earned a National Medical Surgical Certificate. She is survived by her husband, Malcolm "Mike" Young whom she married in 1973; mother, Marge Presser; children, Deborah Anne Goodwin Lloyd, Rebecca Susan Goodwin Lloyd; children by marriage, Martha Ann Young, David Malcolm Young Rosemary and Lisa Marie Young Haan Gregory of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Jonathon Clark Young Shawna, Andrew Michael Lloyd, Lauren Kathryn Haan, Megan Elizabeth Haan, and Robert Stephen Jones; great-grandchild, the lovely Lexi Lynn Young; special cousins, Sherry Dewsbury and her children, Kim Rogers, Kathy Jackson Matt, Karen Miller Donnie and Larry Dewsbury of Oklahoma and Connie Pash of Anderson; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Wanda Young; uncle, J. Richard Troester of Dayton, Ohio; aunt, Evelyn Presser of Sidney, Ohio; numerous other cousins; and several nieces and nephews. Carole wants to be remembered for her loving spirit and her courageous fight against Ovarian Cancer. Her goal during the last part of her life was to create awareness of Ovarian Cancer symptoms and for women to ask their doctors: "WHAT ABOUT MY OVARIES"? Special thanks to Dr. Eddy, Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Elsaharty for support and medical and emotional care. Her friend of 45 years, Evelyn Bertrum, and all the staff in Dr. Eddy's office, Maggie, Phyllis, Teresa, and Jaynedde and the staff in the chemo lab, Tracy, Liz, Chrissie, Faun, Julie, Stephanie and Chrystal. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Thomas Presser; maternal grandparents, John George Troester and Gertrude Whitmer Troester; paternal grandparents, Thomas L. Presser and Grace Lucile Gee Presser; aunts, Phoebe Troester, Helen DeVelvis, Ruth Pash; uncles, Hanson Presser, Millard Presser, Donald Presser, Harry Presser, James L. Troester and Donald Troester and several cousins. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be at Christ Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2011 with Rev. Dr. Gary J. Carstens officiating. Visitation will be from 12-1:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the church.
