Floyd Leroy Stamm, Jr.

Anderson - Floyd Leroy Stamm, Jr., 84, Anderson, died January 7, 2007 at Community Hospital, Anderson. He was born October 16, 1922 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Anderson all of his life. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1988 as a machine repairman after 46 years of service. He was also a carpenter and built his home in 1956. Floyd served in the Army in during WWII which included the Iwo Jima Conflict. He was a member of the Fellowship Lodge #681 F. & A.M since 1950, The Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis since 1953 and American Legion Post #127. He enjoyed several hobbies over the years; such as hunting, fishing, birdwatching especially bluebirds and furniture refinishing. He also rebuilt a Ford 1928 Model A Truck for which he won several trophies. For several years, he displayed his gasoline engines at the Tractor and Engine Show in Portland. He belonged to the Delco Remy Photography Club and won several awards for his photos. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Hazel McCreary Stamm. Children: Verl Linda Stamm of Anderson, Ruth Bill Moto of Anderson, Jean Schaefer of Elwood, Jerry Brenda Stamm of Alexandria and Linda Owen Chew of Trafalger. Grandchildren: Fred Louise Stamm, Ryan Stamm, Paul Anita Schaefer, Trevor Mindy Schaefer, Todd Amanda Schaefer, Addison Stacy Stamm, Bryan Stamm, Brittnay Taylor, Heather Oaks and Aaron Amy Oaks. Step Grandchildren: Todd Meir, Lacey Mankin and Kelly Stokes. Great Grandchildren: Maliena Stamm, Christopher Moto, Alexis Flynn, Rylan Schaefer, Dylan Schaefer, Jaquelyn Schaefer, Ryan Schaefer, Quinton Stamm, Elijah Stamm, Alexis Oaks and Brooklyn Oaks. Step Great Grandchildren: Brianna Hall and Johnathon Stamm. Brothers: Virgil Helen Stamm, Lewis Stamm and Orville Junne Stamm. Sisters: Dorothy Jim Farmer and Doris John Kane. Sister-in-law: Maralene Stamm. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gertrude and Floyd L. Stamm, Sr. Brothers: Verl, Norman and Glenn Stamm. Sisters: Iona Stamm and Naomi Vickers. Son-in-law: Tim Schaefer. Grandson: Mike Moto. Great Granddaughter: Kaitlyn Schaefer. Services will be Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 2:30 PM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #266. Visitation will be from 3-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the funeral home, south chapel. A Masonic Service will be at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, January 9, 2007.
