Anderson - John V. McKim, 85, Anderson, died July 18, 2008 at Community Hospital, Anderson after an extended illness. He was born January 5, 1923 in Greensburg, and lived most of his life in the area. John served with the United States Army during WWII He retired March 1, 1988 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 46.6 years of service. John was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church, the Alexandria Elks Lodge #478 for 33 years, American Legion Post #127 and U.A.W. Local #662. He was an avid woodworker and card player. He loved gardening and yard work. He will always be remembered for his jokes and pranks. His favorite sayings were "Glad you got to see me" and "Loves you-me lots", and showing his favorite picture "Pride & Joy". He is survived by his children, Marcia Disbrow & husband, Paul of Greenfield, Charles Turpin & wife, Carol of Las Vegas, NV and Candy Mercer & husband, Larry of Anderson; grandchildren, Robyn Kennedy & husband, John of Greenfield, Misty Mercer & friend, Jeremiah Short of Anderson, Tara Disbrow of Greenfield, Tommy Turpin & wife, Rachel of New Castle, Todd Turpin & wife, Mary and Tammy Hoy of Anderson; great grandchildren, Zachary & Kaylee Kennedy of Greenfield, Sky, Jacob, & Kaitlyn Turpin of New Castle, Stevie & Devon Turpin, Carolyn, Cami, Jeffery & Michael of Anderson, and Makenzi & Ashleigh Short; extended family, Jerry & Phyllis Brown, David & Karen Maxwell, Don Holder, John, Rhonda & Mason Lloyd, Eric, Sherry, Logan & Kyle Babb of Huntsville; Susan, Lance, Abigail & Isaiah Fisher of Anderson, Jerry, Cheryl, Katie, Josie, Nathan & Nicholas Brown of Carmel, Jim, Kellie, Kody, Kylee & Parker Brown of Perrysburg, OH; Tracy & Lenny Sanders of Anderson, Megan & Brock Rush, John, Dawn, Connor & Hannah Holder, Richard, Nancy & Miguel Holder, Brian, Taylor, Alexia, Cody & Abilene Maxwell; and a host of special friends and family He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ida Lee McKim, in 1992; parents, Charles & Bessie Whitlow McKim; son, James W. McKim in March 1989; sisters, Opal Porter, Lucille Hiles, Helen Salyers, and Alpha Jordan; brother, Rollin McKim; very special friend, Elizabeth "Betty" Holder; and grandson-in-law, Shaun D. Claborn Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the funeral home's south chapel with a service by the Elks Lodge #478 at 7 PM. Services will be Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 2:30 PM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with Rev. Barry Troyer officiating.
