Mary P Smith

Mary P. ( Mousa) Smith, 93, of Anderson, passed away on January 14, 2021, in Ft. Myers, Florida. Mary was born on May 29, 1927, the daughter of Gerald Mousa and Ruth (Mousa) Stanley in North Vernon, Indiana, and had lived in the Anderson area since childhood. She graduated from Anderson High School in the class of 1945. Mary was employed by St. John's Hospital and later at the Madison County Treasurer's Office. She also was employed at Delco Remy for 18 years, retiring in 1984. Mary touched the lives of many people with her cheerful and helpful ways. She lived a great life and thanked God daily for her blessings. She believed in the importance of family and friends. She was a member of the Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Madison County Shrine Ladies Club, and a member of Idlewold Country Club for many years. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Evelyn Mousa, her loving husband, Kenneth Dale Smith, whom she married June 8, 1947, her son, Gregory Alan, sister, Irene Chapman, brother-in-law, Merl Smith, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her very special friends, Jim Sizemore, Evelyn, and Hershel Miller, and her loving canine Toby also preceded her in death. Mary was a devoted and loving wife to her husband and wonderful mother to her surviving children, Tonya (Dan) Losey of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Eric (Brandi) Smith of Eagle, CO. She was a great Mamaw to her granddaughters, Kelly Ann (Eric) Fleming of Tucson, AZ and Kimberly Lauren ( Nolan) Royle of Broomfield, CO and great-grandchildren, Avery Laine and Evan Alexander Fleming, Brody Alan and Bentley Jacob Royle, who all were the pride and joy of her life. Also surviving are nephews, Steven Chapman of Anderson, David Chapman, of Ft. Worth, TX and Michael McQuinn, of California; sister-in-law, Birdie Smith of Elwood, Goddaughter, Brooke (Harold) Johnson and her daughter, Arabelle of Anderson; her very special friend, Connie Sizemore of Anderson and several very special friends, family and her loving canine, Mandy. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN 46013. Services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Zirkle officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory YouTube channel. Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
