Terry D. Woodring

Anderson-Terry D. Woodring, 73, of Anderson, devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, left his earthly home on Tuesday April 2, 2014 and went to his Heavenly home after his battle of cancer of 3 years. Terry was born on September 4, 1940 in Munice, IN, to Dorothy Woodring and Howard Woodring. He graduated from Gaston High School with the class of 1958. He served our country in the US Air Force in July of 1963 and retired in January of 1967. He was over in Vietnam for a year. He was currently self-employed with his business R & T Customs Designs, an embroidery business, for 14 years. Terry was a former employee at Delco Remy Tool & Die Maker from February 1962 until retiring in October of 1999. He was also currently an honorary member of the BNI organization. Terry enjoyed his summers up at Big Long Lake with his family and friends, going swimming, fishing, boating, skiing, tubing and just sitting around talking on the golf carts drinking a beer with the guys. Terry enjoyed watching Nascar and going to the Michigan Races. He also enjoyed golfing with his buddies. He enjoyed every second of his life that God could give him. Terry was diagnosed with cancer in January of 2011. Although it was sad to hear, Terry was determined it was not the end. With the support of his wife, all his family, friends, and help from the doctors, Terry was going to live his life and not let this stop him. Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Bethany Pointe Health Campus for all the care that they provided for him and the love that they shared and to the hospice care team from St. Vincent at the end of his long battle. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sharief and all of the girls that work at the Cancer Center at St. Vincent Hospital. Terry leaves behind to cherish his memories of his wife of 30 years, Ruth Brown Woodring, Anderson, IN; 4 children, his daughter, Karen Woodring Larsen husband: Mike of Danville, IN; son, Kevin Woodring of Anderson, IN; his daughter, Tracy Sue VanDyke Hoppes husband: Roger of Anderson, IN; his daughter, Tammy VanDyke Hoppes husband: Tracy Allen of Anderson; his brother, Denny Woodring wife:Pat from Indianapolis; His 6 grandkids, Brittnee York of Anderson, Katie York of Anderson, Brandon Quimet of Danville, IN, Kaitlyn Hoppes of Anderson, Sydney Woodring of Anderson, and Amber Hoppes of Anderson; His 4 step-grandkids, Kailey Larsen and Hannah Larsen of Danville, IN and Alyssa Hoppes and Tesse Keesling of Anderson; his 5 great-grandkids, Natalie, Aiden, Jace, Haiven and Molli; his 2 sister-in-laws, Shelia Dole of Alexandria and Sue Goodwin husband: Tom of Pineville, MO; several nieces and nephews and an enormous list of close and loving friends that the list could never end. Terry was a very Loved man by many people. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Woodring; his mother-in-law, Elverda Songer; father-in-law, Jasper Songer; and brother-in-law, Clayton Dole. To celebrate Terry's remarkable life and honor all of his memories, friends and family are invited to attend his visitation from 2-6 pm Sunday April 6, 2014 and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at Robert Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory 200 W. 53rd Street Anderson, Indiana. The service will be Monday April 7, 2014 at 1:00 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park with military rites by the VFW Post #266 and the US Air Force.
