Loves Park, Illinois - Bert Shields, 58, Caledonia, went home to be with His Savior on April 15, 2005 due to an automobile accident in Loves Park, Illinois. He was born October 31, 1946 in Anderson, Indiana, and for the past year, he lived in Loves Park, Illinois. He lived in the Anderson-Alexandria area most of his life. He previously worked for General Motors and was currently employed at North Love Baptist Church in Loves Park, Illinois. With great pride and dignity, he served his country in the US Army during the 1967 & & 1968 era of Vietnam. He received 3 Bronze Stars and several other awards. His family was very proud of his service to his country. He was currently a member of North Love Baptist Church in Loves Park, Illinois. He previously attended Victory Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a member of the Boys Club, PAL Club and volunteered with Senior Saints at Victory Baptist Church. He is survived by his three children: Jennifer & husband Brian Burgess of Fishers. Todd & wife Shelly Shields of Findlay, Ohio. Traci & husband Robert Wilson of Ohio. Siblings: Lee & wife Judy Shields of North Ft. Myers, Florida. Linda & husband Dan Roberts of Pendleton. Karen Barnett of Anderson. Diana & husband Mike Crist of Punta Gorda, Florida. Betty & husband Marvin Whitehouse of Anderson. Gary & wife Doretta Shields of Chatanooga, Tennessee. Grandchildren: Caleb, Delaney & Olivia Burgess of Fishers. Michayla Shields and Todd Shields Jr. of Findlay, Ohio. Jordan Shields of Anderson. Several Nieces & Nephews. Previous wife of 27 years: Janet Shields of Delaware, Ohio. Special Friends: Mary Beck of Rockford, Illinois and Bob Harrison of England. He was preceded in death by his parents: William & Leatha E. Gray Shields. Two Sisters: Letha Hunt & Beverly Ruch. Services will be Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 11:30 AM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Pastor Paul Kingsbury of North Love Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
