Billy Lee Looper

Markleville - Billy Lee Looper, 69, Markleville, died February 10, 2004 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born October 6, 1934 in Tennessee, and resided in Markleville, Indiana. He had been a resident of Markleville since 1974. He was the owner of Looper Auto Sales. He worked for Byrum Construction and did finishing work for many years. He was a member of East 38th Street Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of pine Mountain Boys in the 1960's, Madison County Blue Grass Boys, Elvis Whitaker and the Grass Pickers, Gospel singer of Bill Looper and his families. He was also a former member of White River Folk and Bluegrass Music Club. He loved to camp in his motorhomes. He is survived by his wife whom he married June 23, 1951 in Cookville, Tennessee; Minnie Short Looper. Five children: Sandy and husband Jerry Dennis of Michigan, Larry and wife Teresa Looper of Anderson, Teresa and husband Tom Gosser of Markleville, Tom and wife Brenda Looper of Chesterfield and Scott and wife Sheila Looper of Markleville. Two sisters: Eula and Anna J. husband Kenneth Short. Brother: Coleman and wife Marie Looper. Sisters-in-law: Hallie Looper and Gladys Looper. Brothers-in-law: Jerry and wife Brenda Short and Randy and wife Diane Short. 11 Grandchildren: Jerry Lynn and wife Rachelle, Dave and wife Christine, Rebekah and fiance Chaz, Brandon, Shelli, Shannon, MacKenzie, Cody, Kelsey, Kaitlyn and Emily. Great Grandchildren: Hunter, Hailey and Maggie. Mother-in-law Edna M. Short of Clinton, Tennessee. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents: Alvin Cullum and Vicie Lee Phipps Looper. Siblings: Clyde Looper, Elledee Looper, Birdie Emmaline Looper, Lulu Mae Looper and Oral Looper. Services will be Friday, February 13, 2004 at 1:00 PM, at East 38th Street Freewill Baptist Church, 1125 East 38th Street, Anderson, 46013, with Rev. Eric Fox officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson . Visitation will be from 4-8:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Robert D.
