David M. Van Duyn

David M. Van Duyn, 39, of Anderson passed away suddenly on February 19th, 2023. He was born February 10th, 1984 in Anderson. David was a 2003 graduate of Highland High School. David worked as an Inspector for 5 years for The Corradino Group. For the past year David, along with his best friend Jacob Smith worked as general contractors for Vine Brook Homes. David's passion for coaching and mentoring the youth, as well as his love and loyalty to his family and friends were well known by all. David loved to compete; hated to lose and did everything he could to win. But win or lose, he was always proud of the youth he coached and made sure they knew as much. But nothing shone brighter than his love for his wife and kids. Whether it was coaching his son Clifton in football and baseball from the age of five, singing along in the car with his daughter Lilly, coaching his son Jaxon in quarter-midget racing or taking his beautiful wife Heather on their annual anniversary trip to Brown County, David lived and loved every moment life had to offer him. He has also always had a love for animals, very often leading him to bring home stray or two. David was preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Nancy Shelton, John Williams and Clifford and Joyce Van Duyn. David is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Heather (Ditton) Van Duyn; his children Clifton, Lilly and Jaxon Van Duyn; as well as James Malone to whom David loved as a son; his father and step-mother Johnny and Debra Van Duyn and his mother Joan Gritzmacher; his siblings Justin and Johnny Van Duyn, John M. Williams and Ben Smith; Jacob Smith and Dee Taylor to whom David loved as his brother and sister; and many aunts, uncles, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, February 25th at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, In. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1 P.M., with the service following directly afterwards. Services will be officiated by Chaplain Larry Avery.
