Frances L. Myers

Elwood - Frances L. Baxter Myers, 85, Elwood, died July 15, 2005 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Elwood after an extended illness. She was born April 5, 1920 in Sellersburg, Indiana, and resided in Community Parkview Care Center. She was an Anderson resident for most of her life. She worked at the Navy Shipyards in Jeffersonville, Indiana during WWII and also at Delco Remy Division of General Motors. Frances grew up in Sellersburg and graduated from Silver Creek High School. She was the beloved mother of Brenda Allen-Hicks & husband Tom of Anderson, Saundra Nickerson of Indianapolis, Hedy Smith of Hawaii and Deborah Worthington of Hoptacong, New Jersey. She is also survived by three sisters, Mercedes E. Baxter & husband Robert Newbill of Dallas, Texas, Victoria Hart-Jones & husband Eugene of Sellersburg and Alice Hart-Emery & husband Gary of Kalamazoo, Michigan; three brothers, William & wife Margaret Baxter, LeLand & wife Joan Baxter and John Baxter all of Sellersburg; a sister-in-law, June Hart of Lanesville; Seventeen grandchildren, Nathan & wife Amy Allen of Beech Grove, Susan & husband Clayton Chaney of Gunterville, North Carolina, Rex Lee of Indiana, Jason & wife Gayle Hicks, Heather Hicks and Beth Fisher all of Anderson, Tracy Lobdell of North Carolina, Joy, Jeff, Andrea, Louann and Harvey all of Indiana, Wesley Smith of North Carolina, Ken Smith serving with the US Navy in Florida, Drew Worthington, Eric Worthington and Jason Worthington all of New Jersey; four great grandchildren, James, Benjamin, Cheyanne and Dylan; and nieces and nephews, Patricia Norman of Fairborn, Ohio, Dee Ann Underdown of Scottsdale, Arizona, Lloyd Kincade of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stacia Emery Carter of Kalamazoo, Michian, Christopher Emery of Vicksburg, Michigan and Tyson Emery of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded by her husband, Benjamin F. Slaughter; father, Raymond Garnet Baxter, mother, Ada Pearl Newby Baxter-Hart; five brothers, Emmett-Shirley Baxter, Eddy Baxter, Raymond Baxter Jr., William Hart and Thomas Hart Sr.; step-father, William Hart; brother-in-law, Lloyd Kincaid; and step-mother, Esther Baxter. Services will be Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 10:00 AM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Sister Rosie Coughlin officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
