Frederick E. ''Fred'' Himes

Anderson - Frederick E. ''Fred'' Himes, 73, Anderson, went with the angels who carried him home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2003 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson, Indiana after a brief illness. He was born February 19, 1930 in Anderson, Indiana and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 30 years as a millright. He was a graduate of Lapel High School and attended Maryland University. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Conflict as a paratrouper in the 82nd Airborne and the 101st Airborne. He was also a CID Agent in the military. He was a 33 year member and Past Master of the Madison Masonic Lodge #44 F. & A.M. in Pendleton, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Pendleton Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #138. He was also a member of and had served in all offices of the National Federated Craft including president, secretary and treasurer. He was also a member of the Pendleton Amvets and the Pendleton American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Carol Shaw Himes; three daughters, Phyllis & husband Mike Snodgrass of Mooresville, Carol & husband Bruce Chalmers of Madison and Evon Jones of Indianapolis; four step-children, Doug & wife Karen McCord of Anderson, Patricia & husband Jerry Phegan of Crossville, Tennessee, Sheila Lyons of Anderson and Linda & husband Larry Dollens of Pendleton; two brothers, William J. Himes Jr., of Anderson, Robert W. & wife Carla Himes of Pendleton; two sisters, Wilma Jean Siegel of Lake Oswego, Oregon and Nancy K. Fuller of Pataskala, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Linda Himes of Anderson; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ted Fuller, Joe Lintz and John Moberly He was preceded by his parents, William J. Sr. & Sadie Good Himes; two brothers, Kenneth C. Himes and Russell E. Himes; sister, Betty Lou Himes and his previous wife, Dorothy Mae Runyan. Services will be Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 2:30 PM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Claude Creel officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery-Pendleton. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Pendleton American Legion . Visitation will be from 3-8:00 PM on Friday, April 18, 2003 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel.
