Gerald E. "Jerry" Rigsby

Gerald E. Rigsby (Jerry) was born in Anderson, Indiana, on November 14, 1934, and passed away peacefully on March 28, 2020. He graduated from Dunkirk High School in Dunkirk, IN in 1952 and the University of Notre Dame in 1956. At Notre Dame he was in the Marching Band, the Concert Band and the Varsity Band. He worked at Delco Remy Division of General Motors from June, 1956 until retirement in September, 1992. He was the Chief Engineer for Ignition Systems, Motors, Generators, Switches, Sensors and Controls. He authored the chapter on "Automotive Electrical Systems" in the 1966 edition of the McGraw-Hill Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers as well as SAE papers on Automotive Ignition Systems. He was also awarded a US Patent for Time Delay Automotive Headlight systems, He is survived by his wife Jane Rolfe Rigsby, whom he married on June 9, 1956; sons, Thomas (Robin) of Dublin, OH, Joseph (Sandy) of West Bloomfield, MI and John (Carla) of Pendleton and daughters, Mary (Neal) Kirby of Anderson and Ann (Michael) Oddi of The Villages, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Katie Rigsby, William Rigsby, Patrick (Kelley) Rigsby, AJ Rigsby, Andrew (Molly) Getchell, Alex (Kristin) Getchell, Thomas Oddi, Kate Oddi, Jessica (Jason) Craft, Carla (Scott) Van Kampen, Michelle (Garth) Sabo, Matthew (Amanda) Rigsby and Christopher (Carrie) Rigsby. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Christopher Kirby, Brian Kirby, Kendall (Nick) Whipple, and TJ Holloway. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Luke Getchell, Hannah Getchell, Madelyn Getchell, Elliot Oddi, Olivia Oddi, Brady Craft, Charles Craft, Connor Van Kampen, Levi Van Kampen, Rose Sabo, Sadie Sabo and Ralph Rigsby, Also, he is survived by his sister-in-law Mary L. Rigsby of Plainfield, IL and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Sally Rafferty Rolfe of Bradenton, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph E. (Buck) and Julia Marie Dearing Rigsby and his brother, David Patrick Rigsby. A private family memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30th, and a Celebration of Life Mass and gathering will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church in Anderson. Robert D. Loose Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
