Hugh Dyson

Anderson - Hugh Arthur Jack Dyson, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at Countryside Manor in Anderson, Indiana. Born on May 11, 1928, Jack grew up in Summitville, Indiana. He attended Purdue University, where he met his wife, Marjorie. They owned farms in Fairmount, Marion and Summitville, where their three daughters were born, before moving to Anderson. Jack began working at General Motors in the mid 1950's and moved to Labor Relations at Guide Lamp in Anderson in 1960. He retired from GM after more than 30 years with the company. In 1994, he was awarded the Hoosier Homestead Farm Award by Lieutenant Governor Frank O'Bannon, in recognition of the ownership of a farm by his family for 100 years. He was an avid Purdue sports fan and an active member and officer of the John Purdue Club of Madison County. Jack was a manager of the Purdue Football team during his time at the school. He was awarded the Diamond P Award from the John Purdue Club for 25 years of service to Purdue Athletics. He also received the Certificate of Merit by the Purdue Alumni Association for his service as Regional Director. Jack was a member of Central Christian Church, Sertoma Club and Edgewood Country Club in Anderson. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Klinger Lake, square dancing, and was involved with several bridge clubs. He is survived by his three daughters, Sherry Stepp Anderson, Debbie Dyson Indianapolis and Janet Wells Anderson; grandchildren, Jesse Wells, Allyson Wells fiance, Chris Smith their father Joe Wells and his brother-in-law, Bill Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyte and Mildred Dyson, and his wife, Marjorie Dyson. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, 200 W. 53rd. St., Anderson, Indiana . Services will be 11:30 AM on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Vale officiating.
