Kenneth (Tom) Lee Williams

Kenneth (Tom) Lee Williams, 92, of Anderson, passed away on September 2, 2026. He grew up in the addition of Grandview in Anderson, IN, two blocks from the golf course, where he played countless rounds of golf from the age of 23 to the age of 80. During his golf career, he had six holes-in-one, three of these coming after the age of sixty-six. Tom's lowest golf round was 64. Surprisingly, golf was not the only sport he excelled at, playing proudly for the Anderson High School Indians - basketball, football, and track. He met his beautiful, smart, and nurturing wife, Naomi (Nomie) M. (McGill) Williams, during their senior year of high school. The story goes that Tom asked his father to pick out the prettiest girl in the high school yearbook, and he would ask that girl to the homecoming - the choice was Nomie. They married on March 20, 1955. He was a member of East Side Church of God, Anderson. He was baptized in 2017. Tom served as President of the Grandview Men's Club for two years, and was a member of the American Legion, State Police Pioneers and Indiana State Police Alliance. He was drafted into the army in 1957. Basic training was at Ft. Collins in Colorado. This is where Tom fell in love with the western states. He served at Ft. Lewis in Washington, where he was assigned to the headquarters company. He played for the Army golf team. Nomie joined Tom shortly after he settled into a small apartment on base in Tacoma. Life was good for the young couple, who enjoyed the beauty of Mt. Rainier and the Pacific coast. Nomie became pregnant in 1958, and daughter, Kelly was born the following spring in Anderson, IN. Tom was still in Washington when Kelly was born, so he drove home to Anderson after being honorably discharged. He worked for Don Hartman Oil. In 1964, he applied to the Indiana State Police and attended Indiana University to learn about becoming a member of one of the most prestigious law enforcement agencies in the USA. He was accepted into the force and served his first two years at the Redkey Post. He moved his family to Hartford City, where their son, Shawn, was born in 1965. Pendleton Post was his next assigned location for 25 years. He was a trooper for 10 years and was then promoted to Sergeant of Vehicle Inspections. Tom was then assigned to Post Commander and then detective. He loved his work with ISP and spoke often about that love for the remainder of his life. He was a Hoosier Lottery Sales Rep for 10 years after mandatory retirement at age 55 from ISP. Tom worked as security and as a sales rep for 11 years. In both professions, he met many wonderful people whom he spoke of fondly. The hospice ladies from Community Hospital were some of those people he loved the most. The family and Tom couldn't appreciate these women any more than they do - especially Jen, Shannon, and Brooke. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nomie; granddaughter, Amanda Osborne; parents, Kenneth F. Williams and Alliene Williams; and sister-in-law, Susan Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Williams Osborne) Fraser (Rob); son, Shawn E. Williams; grandsons, Dustin S. Osborne (Aimee) and Ian R. Fraser (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Claire, Cal and Cam Osborne, and Everett Fraser; brother, Jerry J. Williams; sister, Carole Bell (Walter); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory in Anderson, Indiana.
