Lezlie Ann 'Wetzel' Mason

Lezlie Ann ‘Wetzel’ Mason, 65, beloved wife, devoted mother and the best grandmother, passed away on March 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, strength and grace. Though she lived with Muscular Dystrophy, Lezlie never allowed it to limit her spirit or purpose; She lived fully, loved deeply, and had a lasting impact on everyone around her. Born to the late Elton Jr. and Doris ‘June’ Wetzel, Lezlie was a proud graduate of Anderson High School and Indiana University. She went on to dedicate her professional life to serving her community, as a probation officer. Retiring from Madison County after 35 years of impactful work and unwavering commitment. Lezlie’s true calling, however, was her family. She was the heart of the Mason household and the foundation upon which countless memories and traditions were built. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Gregory Mason of Anderson, Indiana, who stood faithfully through every chapter of their lives, and their three kids, Jeremy (Casey) Mason of Summitville, Indiana; Matthew (Veronica) Mason of Martinsville, Indiana and Megan Mason of Alexandria, Indiana. Above all, Lezlie’s’ greatest joy was her six grandchildren and one great grandchild; she absolutely lived for them. Every hug, laugh and moment with them was her greatest treasure. To Jeron (Zoe) Mason, Jayden Chaboya, Jaxon Mason, Katherine Mason, Frederick Mason, Wrenlee Mason and Alejandro Mason, she wasn’t just Grandma or Memaw, she was their best friend, biggest cheerleader, teacher and the purest example of unconditional love. She never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, bake cookies, read a book together, or take them for a ride on her wheelchair. Her influence lives through each of them in their kindness, strength, and resilience; traits she instilled by example. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Lezlie’s long-term caregivers, Dr. David C. Mares; Dr. William J. Kopp; Home Health Nurse and friend, Sheila McDonald; former Nurse, Linda Norris and life-long best friend, Mary Kourounioti. Their love, compassion, dedication, and respect will never be forgotten. Lezlie will be remembered as a woman of unmatched love, warmth and will. Her presence and love were limitless. Though her passing leaves a deep void, her legacy lives on in the lives of those she loved and who loved her in return. She was, and always will be, the very best! Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, IN. Services will follow visitation on Saturday at 12:00 pm with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery.
