Mary Alice Madara

Anderson - After blessing those who knew her with her presence on this earth for 96 years, Mary Alice Madara has gone home to Jesus in Heaven on January 15, 2007. She has joined her parents: Charles and Dolly Mae Waitman, her son, Charles; her beloved husband, George; sisters, Florence Rinker and Helen Everman; brother, Junior Waitman and several of her friends and extended family members. Together, they will brighten Heaven and lead the way for those who follow. She was employed by a sewing factory, Warner Gear, Anderson YMCA and Anderson College. The light of her life was during the time she acted as secretary, receptionist and bookkeeper for Madara?s Plumbing and Heating, once located in Belmont, subdivision of Anderson, which was owned and operated by she and her husband. She was also a homemaker and devout Christian. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, quilting and cooking, especially desserts. Numerous friends and family members have received gifts of these and other handcrafts throughout the years. They will serve as a tangible example of her giving nature and a lasting memorial of her life. She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters: Madonna Brewster, Wanda Huff and Juanita Johnston; one brother, Walter Waitman, all of Anderson. She also leaves many extended family members and friends. She had no grandchildren, but acted as a grandmotherly figure to many. She was strong willed, unrelenting in her beliefs, slow to anger and quick to lend a hand. She will be sadly missed by our family but a fine addition to God?s immortal home. Whosoever believes in him shall not perish but shall have everlasting life. Services will be Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 1:00 PM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, with Dr. Gene Parker officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
