Ollie Jean Herron

Ollie Jean Herron, 66, passed away on July 6, 2026, at her home in Anderson, IN. She was born on July 19,1959, in Parkin, Arkansas, and resided most of her life in South Bend, IN. Ollie Jean was the heart of our family and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unconditional love that will continue to live on through every life she touched. She was preceded in death by her father, James Smith; two grandchildren, Passion Herron and Mykail Carver; brothers, Stacey Smith and Eddie James Smith; sisters, Dorothy Hardman and sister Cal Ann May; and niece, Joyce Montague. She is survived by her beloved mother, Annie Bell Brantley (83) of Anderson, IN, with whom she shared an extraordinary bond that was nurtured through daily conversations and unwavering love. Ollie also leaves behind her former husband and lifelong friend, Steve Herron, Sr., of South Bend, IN, with whom she shared many years and a family they both cherished. In her final years, they remained close, caring for one another with the same kindness and devotion that defined her life. Ollie is survived by her loving children, Steve (Valerie) Herron, Jr., Laverne Herron, Kickey Herron, and Ahmad Herron, Sr. all of Anderson, IN, Natasha Belue of South Bend, IN, and Jerry Hardman of Indianapolis, IN; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Robinson, Sr. of Anderson, IN; favorite cousin and spades partner, Allen Bell Sr. of South Bend, IN; lifelong best friend, Evelyn Garner of South Bend, IN; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. To know her was to know what it meant to be truly loved. She never turned away anyone in need and lovingly opened her door to anyone who needed a safe place to belong. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and endless support. She was the life of the party, with a smile and laugh that carried a room. She loved to garden, watch a great show, and would never turn down a card game. Her greatest joy was seeing her family come together. She will forever be remembered as a mother to all who knew her. Her role was never just a title; it was her life’s purpose. To know her was to love her. Her love proves that love does not diminish, it only grows deeper. The loss of Ollie leaves an emptiness that words cannot express, yet we find comfort in knowing the love she poured into us will not end with her passing. It will live on in every lesson she taught, every family gathering she made feel special, every child she nurtured, and every heart she helped heal. Though our hearts are broken, we will forever be grateful that we are blessed to call her ours. She was truly one in a million.
