Paul R. Derexson

Anderson - Paul R. Derexson, 80, Anderson, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2007 at his residence after an extended battle with lung cancer. He was born October 15, 1926 in Chillicothe, Ohio, and resided in Anderson since 1950. He retired from Barber Manufacturing after 42 years of service. He had previously been a truck driver. Paul served his country in the US Army during WWII. He received the Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the Philippines Liberation Medal. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Pendleton.. Paul was a member of the VFW and was an avid NASCAR fan. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife: Judy McNeal Derexson. Five sons: Micheal & wife Sally Derexson of Anderson, Mark & wife Lucy Derexson of Anderson, Paul E. Derexson & Lora of Chesterfield, David & wife Robin Derexson of Alexandria and James & wife Lana Derexson of Ozark, Arkansas. One daughter: Terry & husband Tim Herb of Anderson. Three sisters: Sarah & husband Bill Markle, Gloria & husband Bub Derth and Madeline Micheals. One brother: Robert & wife Janie Derexson. Four Stepchildren: Joellyn Phillipson of Anderson, James Peek Jr of Anderson, Jane Ann & husband Terrill Grubbs of New Castle and Jeanette VanOsdol of Anderson. 18 grandchildren: Shelly, Brandan, Chasity, Shana, Derek, KrisAnn, Linda, Brenda, Terri, Oddie Marie, Mason, Jennifer, Sarah Ashlie, Nicole, Joshua, Brayden, Douglas Shane and Cody. 45 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Very special friends: Brian & Lynn Carr and family. Adopted granddaughter: Brittany Teagle. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife: Evelyn Tomlinson Derexson in 1985. Parents: Henry & Ruth Gallaugher Derexson. Granddaughter: Missy. Brother: Henry Derexson Jr. Sister: Eilene Carnes. Special dog: Lady. Services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11:30 AM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Dr. Sam Muncy officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at funeral home, south chapel and one hour prior to the service.
