R. Thomas "Tom" Morlock

R. Thomas “Tom” Morlock passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 8th, 2023, on his own terms, exactly how he lived his life. He was born and raised in Alexandria, IN, and was a 1961 graduate of Alexandria Monroe High School. From there he devoted 35 years to General Motors and retired in 1997. He and his loving wife Barbara were married for 47 years, raised three boys, enjoyed traveling, loved hosting their grandchildren for pool parties, and would always be the place to gather for a delicious meal with the whole family on Christmas Eve. Tom was a teller of many stories, had a taste for fine dining, and was indeed the life of the party. He loved a good Bushmills on ice, always made fast friends with his wait staff, and shared his love of calamari with anyone who would join him for dinner. He had a dry sense of humor, spoke fluent sarcasm, and wore a hard scowl like armor. Beyond that scowl was a man who rescued cats from dumpsters, loved to bake bread, cook a from-scratch meal, and teach his granddaughters proper table manners. He enjoyed taking his granddaughters, who referred to him as “Pretty Boy,” (seriously), through different life experiences such as fancy dinner dates and travel both near and far. He taught them many important life lessons along the way like, “you don’t have any friends, you just know a lot of people,” and loving him was “a wise choice you’ve made.” His words of wisdom, life advice, and knack for doing it his way will be remembered and cherished by those who loved him most. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara Morlock; sisters, Emily Fielder and Mary Ann Scott; his devoted son, Tommy (Sydney) Morlock; stepsons, Kevin (Cindy) Beisser, and Brian (Teresa) Beisser; and granddaughters; Chelsie, Carlie, Casie, Lindsey, Mackenzie, and Brandy, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeGrand and Winifred Morlock; aunt, Ruth Brenaman; brother, James Mitchell; sister, Beth Fink; great-grandchild Lincoln William; and his beloved feline friends, Psycho pussy and Rambo. In lieu of flowers, please give generously in his name to the Animal Protection League of Anderson, IN as Tom always connected more with paws than people.
