Sherri Lynne Schildtknecht

Sherri Lynne Schildtknecht (Stanford), 63, passed into the presence of her Savior in the comfort of her home after a life marked by compassion, courage, faith, and unwavering devotion to those she loved most. Born on November 2, 1962, to loving mother Vicki Stanford and father Fred Stanford, Sherri was blessed to grow up alongside her beloved sister, Terri Stanford Rinker, with whom she shared a rare and beautiful sisterhood rooted in friendship, loyalty, and lifelong love. On January 15, 1983, she married Carl Schildtknecht, beginning a partnership that would span 43 devoted years. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and shared memories. Through every season of life, they remained steadfast companions. They experienced raising children and grandchildren, enjoying summers by the water, camping during their younger years, and opening their home and hearts to those they loved. Grand displays did not define their love, but by unwavering commitment, loyalty, and care for one another. Carl faithfully stood beside Sherri through life’s joys and hardships alike, lovingly caring for her through her final days. Sherri was preceded in death by her son, Steven Smock, and her brother-in-law, David Rinker. Though she endured profound heartbreak through the untimely loss of Steven, her strength and perseverance became a testimony to all who knew her. Through life’s many challenges, Sherri continued to love fiercely, care deeply, and cling faithfully to the Lord. She leaves behind a family who adored her: her devoted husband, Carl Schildtknecht; son Eric Schildtknecht and fiancée Katie Delph; daughter-in-law Lyn Smock; her loving mother Vicki Stanford and father Fred Stanford; beloved sister Terri Rinker; grandchildren Victoria, Savannah, Olivia, Noah, Isaiah, Ben, Violet, and Maelena; and great-granddaughter Paisley, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever shaped by her love. To her grandchildren, she was simply “Mimi.” A title she carried with unmatched joy and purpose. Being a grandmother was not merely a role to Sherri; it was one of the greatest callings of her life. She made each grandchild feel uniquely treasured and intentionally known. She dreamed up creative adventures, planned special trips, and filled ordinary days with wonder. Summer at Mimi’s house became the highlight of childhood for so many. Popsicles by the pool, rock painting, tea parties, diving games, laughter echoing through warm evenings, and even painting memories directly onto the house itself, so moments would never be forgotten. Her home became a safe haven of joy, imagination, and unconditional love. Sherri had a remarkable gift for caregiving that extended far beyond her own family. She lovingly cared for her mother, Vicki, in her home for many years with patience, dignity, and selfless devotion. In countless ways, she quietly modeled for others what it meant to love sacrificially. Many parents, grandparents, and caregivers learned from watching the way she nurtured: with creativity, attentiveness, gentleness, and intentional love. Her servant’s heart was equally evident throughout her career as a Registered Nurse. Sherri brought compassion, strength, and empathy into every room she entered. Patients found comfort in her care, coworkers respected her deeply, and physicians valued her dedication and wisdom. Nursing was more than a profession to Sherri; it was an extension of who she was at her core… a caregiver through and through. Above all else, Sherri was a woman of deep and abiding faith. Through joy and sorrow alike, she held tightly to the Lord and trusted Him faithfully until her final breath. Her family finds peace knowing she is now fully healed and undoubtedly in Heaven. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Main Street Church of God, 4211 Main Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Main Street Church of God, Indiana Donor Network, or Community Health Network’s Lisa Borenstein Fund.
