Shirley Emmet Fox

Middletown - Shirley Emmet Fox, 91, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2008 after an extended illness. Shirley was born in Holton, Indiana on November 10, 1916. He was the son of David Emmet Fox and Cecille Fox Pearcy. Shirley married the love of his life, Virginia on March 28, 1937. They recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. He retired from Guide Lamp in 1974, after 38 years of service. When he retired, he moved to Summerfield, Florida from Anderson. He was very active in the Lady Lake United Methodist Church. He enjoyed thirty years in Florida. He moved back to Middletown in 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, wood working and traveling. He was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church. Shirley was Past Master of Broadway Masonic Lodge 691 in 1963. He had received his 50 year membership pin. He was Past Patron of Broadway Chapter OES 591 in 1965. He was a member of United Auto Workers 663. He is survived by his wife, Virginia. Son: David wife, Marja Fox of St. Louis. Daughters: Shirley husband, David Kershner of Anderson and Kathryn husband, Robert McCorkle of Middletown. Eight Grandchildren: Penny Johnson, Janet husband, Jim Triplett, Keith wife, Carrol Fox, Cindy husband, John Cooper, Tim Fox friend, Nikki Chris husband, Bud Wright, Angie Vance, Shannon "Hank" wife, Shawna McCorkle. Twelve Great Grandchildren: Corey and Ashley Wright, Jessica Vance, Rae Ann and Chase McCorkle, Cheyenne Johnson, Joe and Brian Triplett, Julie Cooper, Cheldon Fox and D.J. and Donnie Fox. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Emmet Fox and Cecille Fox Pearcy. Brother: John Franklin Fox. Services will be Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson, Indiana, with Rev. Jeff Landon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson . Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson, Indiana. Masonic Service will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2008. Contributions may be made to Middletown United Methodist Church
