Tonya Darlene Whitley

Tonya Darlene Whitley, 78, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on January 22, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana, Tonya was the beloved daughter of Robert and Martha Whitley. She attended Anderson High School and spent her life serving others with unwavering love, compassion, and faith. Tonya's greatest legacy is the life of service she lived. She devoted herself to caring for those around her, selflessly placing the needs of others before her own. She lovingly cared for her parents, grandparents, and sisters, Joyce and Carole, during times of both health and illness. She also played a special role in the lives of her six nieces and nephews, frequently babysitting them and helping shape their childhoods with her patience, kindness, and unconditional love. She had a deep love for animals and leaves behind her cherished four-legged companion, Zoe, who brought her endless comfort and joy. Those who knew Tonya will remember her gentle spirit, warm smile, and generous heart. She never complained, no matter how much was asked of her, and she found genuine happiness in caring for others. She lived her faith not only through her words but through her daily acts of kindness, leaving an enduring example of humility, grace, and selfless love. Tonya was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Whitley; her sister, Joyce Whitley; her great-grandparents, Howard and Cleo Vance; her brother-in-law, Dick Mason; her nephew-in-law, Donald Speck; her niece-in-law, Lezlie Mason; and great-nephew, Andrew Mason. As Tonya entered the pearly gates of Heaven, we can only imagine her being greeted with the words from Matthew 25:23: "Well done, good and faithful servant." We find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she loved and is now resting in the eternal peace of God's presence. She is lovingly survived by her devoted sister, Carole Mason; her nieces and nephews, Tom Mason (Jan), Kendra Speck, Greg Mason, David Mason (Tiffany), Donald Mason(April), and Karen Lodin (Neil), 21 great-nieces and nephews; 32 great-great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friends, Rhonda Farmer, Dawn Shank and Tammy Jarvis, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure her memory. Tonya's life was defined not by worldly accomplishments but by the countless lives she touched through quiet acts of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Her legacy will live on in every life she blessed, and she will be deeply missed until the day her family and friends are reunited with her once again. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street Anderson, IN.
