William P. Boman

A wonderful man passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 31st from causes related to age. William Bill P. Boman Sr. was born in Overton County Tennnessee on February 12th, 1920 . He was the son of Benjamin and Bessie Padgett Boman. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II in the Pacific. After the War, he settled in Anderson, Indiana where he resided for 56 years. He was employed at Container Corp. for 37 years until his retirement in 1982. Dad met and married our Mom, Maxine Pierce, in 1947 later divorced. They became the parents of 2 sons, William Billy P. Boman Jr. of Mill Valley CA and Tim A. Boman of Salt Lake City, Utah. Dad was the "BEST DAD EVER" as we grew up in Anderson, where he sacrificed so much for the benefit of his sons. He taught us many things by the example of his character. He also taught us how to fish and the sport of bowling which were two of his life long passions. He became very active in various bowling leagues for many years and loved those times. After retirement, we cherished all the great visits from Dad where we explored the National Parks of the West. From Tim: Dad was a man of few words but his actions throughout his life were filled with an abundance of wisdom, integrity, honesty, and selflessness. He was kind and gentle, non-judgemental, and NEVER uttered a bad word towards another. He taught me the true meaningful lessons of life! I love you Dad and will be forever blessed for these past 8 years you spent with us in Utah. I love you Dad! From Billy: Dear Dad, the older I got the more I appreciated how much you did for us. Even though you worked so hard at Container the summer I worked there drove that home - whew!. You made the time to coach our Little League team, patiently taught us to cast a line, and totally supported our quest for higher education, The three years I spent with you in Utah brought us even closer and deepened my respect, admiration and love for you. Thanks for everything Dad.... Survivors include his sons, Billy and Tim,wife Lisa and grand-daughters Gentry and Emily. He is also survived by sister Meredith Allred of Rockwood, Tennessee and Charles Boman of Salem, Oregon. He was preceded in death by sisters Theola Baisley, Anita Heppen, and brothers Ted, Thelbert, and Benjamin Uncle Merle. He loved his brothers and sisters very much and cherished the times he could be with them over the years. Per his wishes, Dad will be cremated in Utah, and laid to rest in his birthplace in Tennessee. A memorial service will be held in Dad's honor in Anderson, Indiana at Robert Loose Funeral Home in the Carriage House on Tuesday, Sept. 7th from 1:00-3:00pm. At 2:00 pm, a program of remembrance will commence. We invite all old friends and neighbors to join us. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Septemeber 10th, in Crossville Tennessee.
