PHOENIX, AZ - Betty R. Waymire, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Abrazo Scottsdale Campus hospital, Phoenix, AZ. She was admitted on Sunday, November 28, 2021, and was being treated for Covid19 and bilateral pneumonia. Betty was born on August 15, 1926, in Anderson, Indiana. Betty lived most of her life in the Muncie/Anderson/Alexandria area. Betty married Robert E. Waymire on June 28, 1945, and they were married for 67 wonderful years. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2007 where they lived with their son, Ronald, and daughter-in-law, Gerry. Betty worked at Guide Lamp, Stillmans Dept. Store, Ball Stores, The Peanut Shack, Red Gold, and Sears Dept. Store. She loved crocheting towels, blankets, dolls, washcloths, and jar openers. She was very generous in giving her handmade items to family and friends. Betty also loved “MAKING HER CANDY”. She made AMAZING and highly sought-after candy and chocolates, which she learned from her time at the Peanut Shack. She became very well known for them. Betty attended Corner Stone Baptist Church, Phoenix, AZ. She was a member of the Ladies OWLS group which she enjoyed very much. She is survived by her children, Ronald G. Waymire (Gerry) of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda J. Colbert of Johnstown, CO, and Donald E. Waymire (Lana) of Phoenix, AZ; her Brother-in-law, Ralph Evans, of Anderson, IN; ten Grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathan E. Walford; mother, Juanita Walford; sister, Norma Jean Pemberton; brothers, Bill Walford and Wilbur Walford; husband, Robert E. Waymire; daughter, Sandra L. Cook, and son-in-law, Douglas L. Colbert. A graveside service will be at 10:30 am, Monday, December 20, 2021, at Park View Cemetery, Alexandria, IN.
