Herbert Allen Carner

Anderson - Herbert Allen Carner, 83, Anderson, died December 13, 2002 at Community Hospital, Anderson after a sudden illness. He was born June 8, 1919 in Willow Branch, Indiana, and resided in Anderson, Indiana. He lived in this area since 1946. He retired in 1977 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a 1937 graduate of Wilkinson High School. He served his country in WWII having served in the 504th Military Police in both the North African and Italian invasions. He was highly active in the following organizations: New Horizons United Methodist Church, 53 year member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, York Rite Bodies: Anderson Chapter #52, R.A.M.; Anderson Council #69, R. & S.M.; and the Anderson Commandery #32, K.T., Murat Temple Shrine, Madison County Scottish Rite, Madison County Shrine Club, Twice Past Worthy Patron of the Anderson Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #154, Kentucky Colonel, Community Hospital volunteer for 25 years with more than 7000 hours served, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #209, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and a Travel Club. He was a Cub Scout Master, Boy Scout Master, and Explorer Scout Master and was Santa Claus to both kids and seniors. He is survived by his Wife of 56 years: Mary Hilda Simpson Carner. Daughter: Kyle Ann & husband Dr. James Hall of Logansport. Son: Bradford A. & wife Karen Carner of Aspen, Colorado. Grandchildren include: Audry Hall of Chicago, Illinois. Courtney Hall of Bloomington. Lynly Hall of Phoenix, Arizona. Cassie Hall of Logansport. Fearon Carner of New York, New York. Tyler, Carner of Boulder, Colorado. Ned Carner of Boulder, Colorado. He was preceded by his parents: Edward W. & Ethel Lynly Bolton Carner. Brother & Sister-in-law: Everitt & Mary Carner. Sisters & Brothers-in-law: Gertrude & Dale Jackson. Mary Edith & Lee Janney. Services will be Monday, December 16, 2002 at 10:30 AM, at New Horizons United Methodist Church; 611 E. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Rev. Stephen Holdzkom of New Horizons United Methodist Church. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson . Visitation will be from 2-6:00 PM on Sunday, December 15, 2002 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel. 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson. There will be a Masonic service at 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2002and Military rites will be by the VFW Post #266 at the gravesite.
