Mary Frances Fowler

Anderson – Heaven has a new Angel, Mary Frances Rubert Fowler. She was surrounded by family and friends, with her grandson, Brandon McCoy, holding her and singing in her ear, when she went to be with the Lord. Mary was born in Elwood, and married Delbert W. Fowler on December 1, 1946, and was married for 56 years. Mary moved to Anderson and resided here for the last 65 years. For many years, she resided in Dunedin, Florida during the winter months. Mary worked at Guide Lamp Division of General Motors from 1946 to May 1977, before that she worked at Pierce Governor. Mary was a pioneer in the women's rights movement. She stood on the front lines for equal rights for women, equal pay for women and equal opportunities for women. Mary should be regarded in history for giving women the rights that they now have as women. She was a proud member of the UAW Local #663. She bowled on the UAW leagues and the retirees bowling leagues. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Broadway Chapter 591 and the Daleville Chapter 568. She belonged to four Red Hat Groups; The Red Hat Sisters, Small Town Girls, Bodacious Babes and the Red Hats in Dunedin, Florida. Mary was a proud member of the Democrat Party and the Ladies Democrat. She was a member of the American Business Association, and the ABWA Silver Star Association. She loved being on the computer. Mary was a member of Aletheia Church with Pastor Gary McCaslin, whom she absolutely adored. Mary was a very devout Christian and was on the God's key warriors and supporters on his Earth. One of her favorite things to do was to teach her family and God and explain it to the children in ways they could understand. Mary had three children; son, Jerry Kathy Fowler whom also helped take care of her; daughter, Delberta "Bertie" Max Amos whom she lived with and took care of her; step-daughter, Sondra Mooris Koors of Tennessee. Grandchildren, Brandon Molly McCoy whom helped take care of her, David Kay Fowler, Terry Rhonda Fowler, Patricia "Pat:" Odell, all of Anderson, Teresa Fowler of Florida, Sherri Dennis Lawson of Tennessee, Allen Koors of Tennessee, Mike Kathy Bonisa of North Carolina; and adopted daughter, Jerri Buck. Great grandchildren, Jordan Brown, Jackie Odell, David Fowler Jr, Korey Fowler, Kyle Fowler, Ryan Fowler, Avery Jarvis, Nolan Jarvis, Thias McCoy, Branlin McCoy, Hannah Bonisa, Jacob Bonisa, Shaina Lawson, McKenzie Koors, and Alicia Koors. Her adopted grandchildren, Derek Utley, Vicki Fowler, David Clarkstone, Nick Chrisy Holren, and Marcy Chuck Sadler Chelsea and Owen. Also surviving are her best friend of over 80 years, Frieda Dunkerson; other family members, Darlene Altherr Lemon, Bill McQuitty, Marrilyn McQuitty, Mary Jane Ebert, Bernice Green and many more. Her favorite thing to do in life was to spend time with her family. In Heaven with Mary is her husband, Delbert W. Fowler; parents, Ora and Iris Reeder; her grandmother and aunts; that raised her, Sarah Smith, Mable Rubert, Mildred McQuitty; and step-daughter, Sondra Koors. One thing Mary and Delbert loved to do was go get a sandwich and watch the sunset in Florida. Mary also loved watching her family compete in Artistic Roller Skating and any other sport that they competed it, even if she didn't exactly know what was going on in the sport. She loved the Indiana Pacers, and her favorite player, Her Reggie Miller and Larry Bird. Mary loved everything about Christmas, especially Christmas lights which we used to put out over a million lights just for her. The Christmas lights will be on for her until the night after her burial in her memory. Mary had so many very special friends, like Bonnie, Marge, Barb, Kathy, Helen and so many more which she loved each and single one of them so very much; and all of friends on the computer. We would like to thank the staff at Bethany Point for all the attention and care that they gave to her; they all loved Mary so much. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 6:30 PM. Services will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:30 PM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary McCaslin officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery-Anderson.
