Donald Rex Fredrick

ANDERSON, IN- Donald Rex Fredrick, 89, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital in Anderson, IN. He was born August 20, 1926 in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Herbert and Opal Rex Fredrick. Don grew up in Markleville and graduated from Markleville High School in 1944. He was a stand out basketball player averaging an impressing 16 points a game for the Arabians. Don served in the United States Army and was stationed at Camp Atterbury when he married Betty Lois Rash (Fredrick). They married on November 2,1945 and had two daughters Becky and Luanne. Don was a well-known barber at his main street-style shop located in the small town of Shirley, IN. A popular local spot to see your friends and play checkers, the Don Frederick Barber Shop was open for 46 years. During those years Don was also a real estate broker and remained active at the profession he loved until he retired at the age of 80. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, papaw and great papaw. Don cherished his family and did his best to capture every moment of his grandchildren’s lives on camera. His kindness and the example of love for faith and family he set will continue to be admired by everyone who knew him. Survivors include Betty Fredrick (Markleville); two daughters, (late) Becky Jane (Tim) Watson, Alexandria; Luanne (Andy) Klepfer, Pendleton; grandchildren Keriann Rix- Rich, Noblesville (husband Ryan, great grandchildren Amelia, Ian), Kelli Rix-Freiman, Chicago (husband Jason, great grandchild Lincoln), Kimberly Klepfer-Croft, Westfield (husband Nick, great grandchildren Sophie, Sawyer), Kourtney Klepfer-Hassanein, Boston (husband Al, great grandchildren Beckett, Miles). Visitation will be held at Loose Funeral Home 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The funeral service honoring the life, legacy and faith of Don Fredrick will be held at the Markleville North Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 (extended at Noon prior to the services). Pastor Jerome Bell and Dr. John Hackney will officiate. Interment will follow in Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
