Helen A. Stottlemyer

Anderson - Helen A. Martin Stottlemyer, 91, Anderson, has been promoted to glory peacefully into the arms of Jesus her Savior as of June 14, 2010 from Community Hospital in Anderson surrounded by her loved ones. Helen A. Martin Stottlemyer, was born October 1, 1918 to parents, Oral Martin and Gladys Bronnenberg Martin in Anderson, Indiana. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1936, met and married Gerald "Duce" Stottlemyer on October 19, 1939. Helen was a member of the Whetstone Christian Church, and belonged to the "Wedding Ring" Sunday School Class. Helen was active in "Eastern Star" on the local, state and national level for many years; part of the "Unfinished Craft Club", "Craft Club", "Beauceant", "Past Matrons" and in her later years, she began organ lessons with a group called "Life" at Lamberts Music Center continuing into the current year. She retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in 1981 after 43 years of service. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Mary Helen Gero, Janet Gero Miller, Betty A. Gero, Rita Gero Moroni, Annette Gero, Pam Stuart Hobbs, and John Gero, all from Port Charlotte, Florida, Loretta Lester Duncan of Paoli, Jimmy Martin, Gary Martin, Kenny Martin, Mike Martin, Danny Martin all of Anderson, as well as many great nieces and nephews; cousins, Ginny Freeman from Florida as well as many special friends. Helen's extended family survivors includes brother-in-law, George June Bayley; nieces and nephews, Kathryn Cloud, Betty Funkhauser, Gene Beverly Jo Givens, Kay Don Ryan, Bill Janene Givens, Judy Fisher, Richard Terri Stanley and Calvin Julie Bayley along with several great nieces and nephews of her extended family. Helen will also be missed by special close and faithful friends throughout her life, John and Helen Manship and their entire family. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 29, 1972, Gerald "Duce" Stottlemyer; parents, and two sisters, Mary Martin and Mildred Gero. Also extended family; parents-in-law, Billy and Blanche Stottlemyer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hazel Raymond Knopp, Mildred George, Sr. Bayley, Thelma Ermine Crumley, Edith Roy Givens, Esther Dick Stanley and Doris Bayley plus extended family nieces, Vera Knopp and Darlene Bayley Lee. Throughout Helen's life, she has left imprints of her personality with multitudes of acquaintances that will never be forgotten. Those who were privileged to cross paths with her in this journey of life experienced friendship, compassion, mercy, generosity and many other positive traits that describe a very special lady with whom memories were made. The family wishes to thank Community Hospital and Hospice for their kind tender care during her last days before being promoted to her heavenly kingdom. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, IN with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM.
