Janet Marlea Blake

Janet Marlea Blake, 69, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on August 7, 2026. Janet was a woman of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a heart that was always thinking of others. She had a gentle and approachable spirit and never complained, even when life was difficult. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a quick wit, and was known to be a bit of a prankster—bringing laughter and joy to those around her. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was rooted first in her devotion to the Lord, and she lived each day with a deep desire to honor Him. She also found great joy in caring for her husband, Michael Blake, and was deeply committed to his happiness and well-being. Their love and commitment to one another was a relationship many could look up to. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with her daughter, Maleah Hensler, her son-in-love, Scott Hensler, and her grandchildren, Sarai Allen and Maverick Allen. Her grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart. They called her Grammy. Her creativity could be seen in the many things she loved to make with her hands, especially quilting and crafting. She found great joy in creating things for the people she loved. Janet’s faith was at the center of her life. She was a longtime member of Ovid Community Church and dedicated many years to serving others through her church and community. She taught children’s church and Sunday school, served as a church camp director, and volunteered with Youth for Christ. She also served as an assistant elementary school teacher. Through these roles, Janet touched the lives of countless children and young people, offering them encouragement, patience, love, and a strong example of faith. Janet will be remembered for her quiet strength, her kindness, her creativity, her humor, and most of all, her love for her family. She had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for without ever seeking recognition for herself. She simply lived her faith by loving and serving others. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Norma Holloway. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Blake; her daughter, Maleah Hensler (Scott); grandchildren, Sarai Allen and Maverick Allen; and her siblings, Naomi Miller (Dave), Rachel Oban (Terry), and Robert Holloway (Susan), along with extended family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her years of service. Janet’s life was a quiet testimony of faith, love, strength, and devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. “She loved deeply, served faithfully, and walked humbly. She loved God and always thought of others before herself.” Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ovid Community Church in Anderson. Services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, 10:00 am, at the church with Rev. John David Delgado officiating. Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery, Wilkinson, IN.
