Lenora M. Dillard

Lenora M. Dillard, 91, was born on May 21, 1935, in Odon, Indiana. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lenora lived a life centered around the people she loved. She passed quietly at her home in Anderson, Indiana, on September 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Lenora was the loving wife of James D. Dillard Sr. for four decades. As the wife of a member of the United States Army, she proudly traveled alongside her husband while raising their four children, creating a home and caring for her family wherever life and the Army took them. She leaves behind her daughters, Pamela White (Richard); Judy Hurst; and Tina Duncan (Jeff); and her son, James “Jim” Dillard Jr. Lenora was a proud grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of three. She is survived by her grandchildren, Larissa White, Heather Hurst, John Hurst and Austin Duncan, as well as her three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, David Hurst, Micheal Hurst and Michelle Hurst. Caring for others came naturally to Lenora. She spent many years working as a home health aide, a role that reflected her compassionate and caring nature. She found purpose in helping those who needed her and took great pride in making their lives a little easier through her care and kindness. Lenora was a woman ahead of her time. In the 1970s, she became the first woman to sell property on a land tract and was incredibly successful, making her mark in a business that was largely dominated by men at the time. Lenora enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing, but she especially treasured trips to the beach. She loved taking long walks along the shore, feeling the sand between her toes and the warmth of the sun on her skin. Above all, Lenora loved her family. She spent a lifetime caring for others, creating memories and passing along traditions that will remain with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for generations to come. Lenora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James D. Dillard Sr.; brothers, John Stuller, Charles Stuller and Ivan Stuller; and her sisters, Marie Sheperd and Maralie Bedwell and her parents, Charles and Margaret (Smith) Stuller.
