Richard "Dick" Lee Davis

Richard "Dick" Lee Davis, 80, of Anderson, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on August 11, 2026. He was born on November 17, 1945, in Anderson, Indiana, where he resided all of his life. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dick, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and true jack-of-all-trades. Dick leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, generosity, laughter, and love. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1965. Dick spent much of his career with General Motor's Delco Remy Division, where he worked in Plant 20 and Plant 11. He later continued his career at Magnequench, where he remained until his retirement. Throughout his working years, Dick earned the respect of colleagues and friends through his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic. A gifted craftsman, Dick could build or repair just about anything. He took great pride in working on hot rods and building Chevy V8 engines, passions that showcased his mechanical talents and creativity. His abilities extended far beyond automobiles. Dick personally built two homes from the ground up, a remarkable accomplishment that reflected both his determination and craftsmanship. Whether he was operating his cherished dump truck and backhoe, working on a new project, or lending a helping hand, Dick was always happiest when creating, fixing, or improving something. One of Dick's greatest loves was motorcycles. He enjoyed riding throughout his life, and his favorite was his treasured Honda Gold Wing, which carried him on countless adventures and unforgettable journeys. Those who knew Dick will remember him for his incredible sense of humor. He loved to laugh, joke, and bring smiles to those around him. His quick wit and joyful spirit made every gathering brighter and every friendship stronger. Dick also cherished the companionship of his loyal friends, Boss Man, Fat Boy, and Lola, who brought him comfort, happiness, and unconditional love. Above all, Dick had one of the kindest hearts imaginable. He was always willing to help someone in need, never hesitating to lend his time, talents, or support. His generosity and compassion touched countless lives. Even in passing, Dick's commitment to helping others continued through his decision to become an organ donor, a final act of selflessness that reflected the caring person he was throughout his life. Dick's legacy lives on in the things he built, the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. He is survived by his loving children, Lori Hawhee, Brad (fiancé, Georgia) Davis, and Missy Fox; grandchildren, Scotty Davis, DJ (Tiffany) Elsworth, Emily (Emby Duncan) Ashton, Isaac Ashton, Taylor (Jerry) Sanders, Logan Davis, Rebecca (Caleb) Kaehr, Blake Wilbur, Chelsie Carr, Nick Davis; and several great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are his siblings, Paul Dodson, Jr. and Debbie Dodson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Davis; mother and step-father, Martha and Paul Dodson, Sr.; son, Mike Davis; daughter, Angel Davis; sister, Linda Daniels; and son-in-law, Gene Hawhee. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, IN. Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
