Stephen Douglas Fridley

Stephen Douglas Fridley, 73, of Anderson, passed away on September 11, 2012 at the Indiana Heart Hospital Indianapolis, IN after an extended illness. He was born on April 11, 1939 in Middletown, to Lloyd Edwin and Jannie May Fridley. He resided in Anderson and was a self-taught carpenter. One of his greatest joys in life was using the talent God blessed him with to give shape and life to wood with his bare hands. His second and most precious joy was his family and friends. He was a good husband, father, loyal friend and wonderful grandpa. He was loved and respected by many. Steve leaves behind to cherish his memory three brothers, Claude Fridley, Louis Fridley and Joe Ella May Fridley and one sister, Virginia Sample. Eight daughters: Mary Calvin Pulley, Jessica Eytchison, Elizabeth Eric Shell, Patricia Fridley, Jennifer Larry Cotton, Angelina Will Davis, Alicia Brewer and Mollie Fridley. Sixteen grandchildren: Kyle Natasha Pulley, Kevin Pulley, Rieanna Davis, Byron Ciara Land, Corey Kirbie Land, Malaya Kelsey Smith, Darrin Jessica Jones, Sconisha Travis, Scott Hedgecraft, Kylee Matthew Hedgecraft, Jayden Baker, Kaleb Davis, Tayler Davis, Xavier Tomlinson, Zachary Tomlinson, and James Fridley. Six great-grandchildren: Xaviar Pulley, Isabelle Pulley, Cyrus Land, Zarion McMillan, Sanae McMillan and Jayvin Jones. Special family and friends: Mike Hancock, Steve Hancock, Larry Davis, Scottie Travis, Ronnie Hansmann, Robyn Sullivan and his loyal companion, Buttermilk. He was preceded in death by wife, Myra J. Hancock Fridley, parents: Jannie May Lewis and Lloyd Fridley, daughter: Suzanna Davis and four brothers, Verle Fridley, Robert Fridley, Max Fridley, and Alvin Fridley. A special thanks to Community Hospital, Anderson for their care and to the doctors and nurses at the Indiana Heart Hospital for their wonderful care and for the compassion and understanding they showed to all the family. A very special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Weinberger, who with the skill God blessed him with, gave our family that little extra time we had with our dad. And to his nurse, Barb for all her compassion, understanding and genuine concern she had for him and his family. God bless you all. Services will be Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
